September 2025 Summit with NIHB

September 12, 2025

Across healthcare professions, there is stagnant or declining workforce numbers. Healthcare workforce shortages are only projected to worsen, adding burden to areas already facing disproportionate access to healthcare services. Native communities already face inequities in healthcare services and resources, which will only intensify as shortages are faced across the nation. At the fall 2025 IHEART National Summit, participants gathered to discuss the current state of the healthcare workforce and its impact on Native communities. Healthcare professionals and healthcare organization representatives shared their insights. Participants learn about current and needed policy updates, gathered in conversation to set goals to break down problems facing the healthcare workforce, and brainstormed actionable first steps to address the current state of healthcare. This event also featured a poster presentation opportunity, where IHEART members and partners shared their work and expertise.
